LBJ’s American Dream, and ours  - NY Daily News

Jay Hershenson remembers the day on Liberty Island when he witnessed LBJ sign HR 2580 the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. The Act abolished quotas based on national origin, race and ancestry, established pathways for family reunification and offered opportunities for skilled immigrants to partake in the American Dream.

Hershenson writes,
It is time for the DREAM Act to become the law of the land — and for broader reform to finally gain a critical mass of support on both sides of the aisle.

  1. The DREAM act is a law that should have been created years ago to make the process of family reunification . That's what obtaining the American dream is about. That was what the purpose of creating this country was about. This country started as a group of immigrants coming to America for new opportunities and to flee the oppression they had to deal with in their own country.
